Anfrage (kein Titel) vom 29.10.2004
REQUIREMENTS TO WATER-BASED PAINTS FOR SHOCK ABSORBERS 1. Purpose: for painting of external surfaces of ready-assembled shock absorbers. 2. Application method: airless spraying in the electric field. 3. Preparation of the surface to be painted: degreasing (flushing) in a weakly alkaline aqueous solution of technical detergent (without phosphatizing) with subsequent hot and cold drying. 4. The temperature of drying: up to 1000 C, preferably 600 C. 5. Colour of enamel: black mat; colour of primer – any. We shall also consider semi-mat and glossy enamels. Coating without primer is allowed, i.e. enamel over enamel (2 coats). 6. The primer and enamel shall be minimum aggressive in relation to grommets of ball joint, i.e. the grommet shall remain sticky after drying (grommets of ball joint are not protected when varnish-and-paint is applied). REQUIREMENTS TO COATING. 1. Appearance after visual inspection: coating should be black, mat (velvety), continuos, and sun-proof. The absence of coating on the sharp edges and on a weld seam is not allowed. 2. The coating should be resistant to liquid fuels: pour motor petrol over the painted external surface of shock absorber in amounts of 5+0.2cm3 ; fix the shock absorber at an angle of 450 to the vertical line, cure it until full evaporation of petrol. After the testing is over, the coating should be free from wrinkles, blisters, and sags. Partial loss of gloss is allowed. 3. The coating shall be resistant to humid conditions: the shock absorber should be kept inside the chamber at 40 + 20 C and at relative humidity of 9095% during 96 hours non-stop, in the upright position. Inspect the shock absorber visually no later than 30 minutes after taking them out of the chamber. After the testing is over, the coating should be free from wrinkles, blisters, and sags. Partial loss of gloss is allowed. 4. The coating should allow for adhesion: using a scraper consisting of a row of parallel blades that are 1 mm apart, cut the painted surface into the squares, the area of which ranges from 80 to 90 mm2, in two mutually transverse directions so that to cut through a coat of paint. Remove the burrs and traces of paint off the surface of the lattice. Paste a strip of adhesive tape with a tack force from 10 to 15 N to the surface obtained. If the adhesive tape is removed abruptly, tear-off of the paint from the cut-through squares is not allowed while tear-off of burrs over the edges of the lattice is allowed.
